2021: The Year in Review

Posted on 12/14/2021

As we enter the holiday season, I hope we can all look forward to festive times with friends and family. As we do, Id like to take a moment to look back on the year behind us. We have come a long way since last year. Most businesses have reopened and children are back in school. Vaccination has spared most of us the misery of COVID infection, and has saved many families from the agonizing loss of a loved one.New variants of COVD-19 are certainly cause for concern, but as a city, a state, and a nation, we are far better prepared to deal with the threat than we were in 2020. Weve come a long way over the last year, and though great challenges lie ahead, I have every confidence in the courage, resilience and ingenuity of the people of Los Angeles. Through the generations -- and especially over the last two years -- we have been tested and tried and we have gained strength in the face of adversity. We are always stronger when we stand together than we are when divided, and I believe the people of Los Angeles are well prepared for whatever comes next.

Wishing you all the warmth, comfort and fellowship of the holiday season, and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022!
