Amanda Gorman Mural Brings Inspiration to Chandler Tiny Homes

Posted on 11/05/2021

The year 2021 marked the debut of the Chandler Tiny Homes Village in North Hollywood. It is also the year that the brilliant Amanda Gorman, a native Angelino, became the youngest poet ever to recite her work at a presidential inauguration. Now the Chandler Village is the site of a stunning new mural celebrating Gorman and her stirring words. Last month, Councilmember Paul Krekorian joined the Chandler Village residents in thanking the volunteers of a local public art nonprofit, Muralism, for their extraordinarily beautiful and uplifting work. Muralism's founder and Executive Director, Ernie Merlan of Valley Village, noted that a team of five artists worked for two weeks to complete the project on a wall near the entrance of the Tiny Homes complex.
Mr. Merlan and the artists of Muralism have partnered with Councilmember Krekorian in creating many important public art projects in the district, including the massive Vintage North Hollywood mural alongside the 170 Freeway. This latest project colorfully embodies the spirit of hope of the Chandler Village residents as they take their first steps towards a better life.
