STUDIO CITY - When Martha and Marlo Tormel opened Cactus Taqueria #1 in Hollywood in 1992, it marked the beginning of what would become a humble taco stand empire delivering quick, fresh Mexican specialties to people across LA. Nearly 25 years later, Cactus Tacos has four locations and thousands of happy customers.

For September's edition of Lunch with Paul, Councilmember Krekorian invited community members to join him at Cactus Taqueria #3 in Studio City for conversations and a bite to eat. The third location opened in 2013 with son Marlo Tormel Jr. at the helm, who graduated from the Culinary Institute of North Hollywood hoping to reinvigorate traditional Mexican flavors and the family business with new infusions.
At Thursday's event, taco lovers sampled a variety of dishes from the taqueria's large menu of burritos, tortas, fajitas, quesadillas, and of course, tacos.
During the community event, Krekorian also spoke with engaged neighborhood stakeholders about ongoing issues, upcoming projects and ways that District 2 is working with city departments to address their concerns.
