The City Charter is the basic law of the City of Los Angeles. It cannot be changed without the direct consent of the voters of Los Angeles.
The City Council has proposed the following changes to the City Charter, but the final decision is yours!

Amendment DD - Creates an Independent Redistricting Commission to redraw City Council District boundaries every ten years.
Amendment ER - Seeks to increase independence and authority of City Ethics Commission: triples penalties for violations of ethics rules; tightens conflict of interest rules for Ethics Commissioners; establishes a minimum annual budget for the Commission; allows the Commission to retain outside counsel; requires the City Council to consider all Commission proposals.
Amendment FF - Allows officers employed by the Airport, Harbor, and Recreation and Parks Department to join the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension Plan.
Amendment HH - Requires commission appointees to file financial disclosures before they can be confirmed; clarifies the Controller’s authority to audit City contractors; expands the City Attorney’s subpoena power in civil cases; establishes a process to evaluate the impacts of laws proposed by citizen initiative.
Amendment II- Clarifies language in the City Charter; allows City departments to sell merchandise to support City operations; includes gender identity in non-discrimination rules; clarifies the Airport Commission’s authority to establish fees and regulations for service providers.
Amendment LL - Creates an Independent Redistricting Commission to redraw Board of Education District boundaries for the Los Angeles Unified School District every ten years.
