Closing the Gap in the Chandler Bike Path

Posted on 10/30/2024
L to R: State Assemblymember Luz Rivas, Councilmember Paul Krekorian, Rep. Tony Cárdenas, and Laura Rubio-Cornejo, General manager of the Department of Transportation.

U.S. Congressman Tony Cárdenas was in North Hollywood this week to present the City with a check for $650,000 to go towards completion of the Chandler Bike Path gap closure project. When completed, the project will connect two existing bike routes: the Chandler Bike Path and the Orange Line Bikeway. Adding protected bike lanes to this three-mile gap will complete a 21-mile continuous protected bicycle route from Burbank to Chatsworth, crossing the entire San Fernando Valley from East to West, expanding opportunities for recreation and exercise, and an active transportation link between the Metro B (Red) line subway and the all-electric G (Orange) line busway.
