VALLEY VILLAGE/STUDIO CITY AND NORTH HOLLYWOOD - The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is in the process of upgrading its aging water infrastructure with two critical projects in portions of Council District 2. These projects are essential to our city, but will cause some disruption to the flow of traffic and to area businesses. Councilmember Krekorian is working with DWP to lighten the impact of the projects on our neighborhoods and to support local residents during this process.City Trunk Line South ProjectIn Valley Village and the northwest tip of Studio City, DWP is continuing its City Trunk Line South - Unit 4, Phase 2 Project. The City Trunk Line was installed in 1914 and is beginning to leak and break due to age. DWP's goal is to replace these pipes to ensure that Angelenos have clean drinking water delivered in a safe, reliable and environmentally friendly manner. Work site locations are on Magnolia Blvd. (between Leghorn Ave. and Goodland Ave.) and Whitsett Ave. (between La Maida St. and Kling St.). Construction will begin this summer to replace 1,500 feet of 54- and 60-inch diameter pipes. It will last until spring 2017.If you need more information about the City Trunk Line project, please contact DWP Project Manager John Huynh: 213.367.8716 or [email protected].River Supply Conduit Improvement ProjectIn North Hollywood, DWP is working on its River Supply Conduit Improvement Project - Units 5 and 6. The existing RSC is a major transmission pipeline that was built in the 1940s and is responsible for transporting large amounts of water from the Northeast Valley to the Central City area. The RSC that runs between North Hollywood Pump Station and the Headworks Spreading Grounds site will be replaced with a larger diameter steel pipe. The improvements will enhance water pressure, capacity and reliability, and better comply with federal and state water quality regulations.Approximately 15,800 feet of 78-inch diameter welded steel pipe will be installed in the NoHo area on Morella Ave. (North Hollywood Pump Station to Archwood St.), Archwood St. (Morella Ave. to Lankershim Blvd.), Lankershim Blvd. (Archwood St. to Burbank Blvd.) and Burbank Blvd. (Lankershim Blvd. to Biloxi Ave.). Construction started this spring and will last until early 2018.If you need more information about the RSC project, contact DWP Project Manager Johan Torroledo: 213.367.2296 or [email protected].
