Ghostbusters Day in Los Angeles

Posted on 06/22/2024

Forty years ago, the first Ghostbusters movie, filmed at notable landmarks across downtown Los Angeles, became one of the most successful comedies of the 1980s. Ghostbusters and its sequels have inspired generations of fans around the world, including the Los Angeles Ghostbusters, a fan-led organization that raises funds for family and children’s charities like the Los Angeles-based Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Through partnerships with companies like Sony Pictures and grassroots fundraising from groups like the Los Angeles Ghostbusters, Starlight offers imaginative play, game-based learning and distraction to children in hospitals who are enduring the pain and stress of medical procedures and conditions.

Council President Krekorian was joined by the Los Angeles Ghostbusters and filmmaker Jason Reitman, son of the late Ivan Reitman, who directed the original movie, as the City Council proclaimed Ghostbusters Day in the City of Los Angeles.
