LOS ANGELES - On May 7, the Los Angeles Police Department will host its annual citywide gun buyback initiative to remove dangerous firearms from our streets in an effort to curb gun violence.During the gun buyback, individuals may surrender guns anonymously at either of the two buyback locations. City leaders and LAPD gun experts will also be available to answer questions about firearms and the city's laws on guns. LAPD reminds the public that when bringing a firearm to a drop-off location, please leave the unloaded gun or guns in a locked container or stored in a vehicle trunk. The buyback staff will provide direction to individuals surrendering guns after discussing their intent to surrender a weapon.
People who surrender their firearms will receive a $100 Ralph's gift card for handguns, shotguns, and rifles and $200 for assault weapons.
