NORTH HOLLYWOOD - This week, the North Hollywood Recreation Center was abuzz with dozens of local organizations, volunteers and community members working to provide services and resources to homeless individuals in the East San Fernando Valley as part of Councilmember Krekorian's latest Homeless Connect Day. The day of service connects individuals and families in need with city, county, and state agencies for housing, health screenings, veteran support, access to mobile showers and much more. The Thursday event welcomed 141 attendees in all, with 128 participants entered into the Coordinated Entry System, which matches individuals with vital resources. Dozens more received assistance to apply for food programs, state IDs and social security benefits.
"Homeless Connect Day showed, once again, how the partnership of city, county and state government agencies, local organizations and the community is essential to improving the lives of Angelenos," said Councilmember Krekorian. "I've been on the forefront of pushing for more services to the unsheltered in my district, and I will make sure the Valley continues to receive the resources and tools we need to resolve this problem."
