In recent weeks, Council President Krekorian and the City Council honored North Hollywood High School students for their achievements in academic competition and on the baseball diamond.
The North Hollywood team won second place in the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl, a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. North Hollywood has made the top five 16 times since they began participating in the competition, and won the national title in 2001 and 2021.
North Hollywood High School’s baseball team, the Huskies, won the 2024 CIF Los Angeles City Section title, beating Banning High, 3-1, in eight innings at Dodger Stadium. Due to a major renovation project at the North Hollywood campus, the Huskies have not had a home field of their own for the past two years. The Huskies won the Division I title despite having to practice at the Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Baseball fields 20 minutes away from the school all season.
