I had the opportunity this week to tour the new 85-bed Bridge Housing site at 13160 Raymer in North Hollywood that is scheduled to open in June. The facility, which will be operated by Hope of the Valley, is a critical part of my ongoing effort to provide both Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) and Bridge Housing in CD2.In addition to 85 bedrooms, the location will include sinks, showers, toilets, and eight computer stations, where residents can work on their resumes and apply for jobs. It also features outside storage bins for 120 people, a dining area, space for food preparation, and a building for laundry services.
Potential residents will be assessed by a combination of law enforcement, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, and Hope of the Valley staff based at the Navigation Center that opens this month on Sherman Way near Lankershim. The Center is another result of my effort to increase the number and quality of homeless services in CD 2.
As we seek to curb homelessness, in my district and across the city, nothing is more important than providing bridge housing and PSH for people living on our streets. In that vein, the Raymer site represents hope and the chance at a fresh start.
