LOS ANGELES, CA - Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian filed a motion this week to impose a one-year prohibition on the sale of all cannabis vaping products and associated accessories within the City of Los Angeles.I am seeking to halt cannabis vaping until it is proven safe, said Krekorian. The councilmember noted the alarming reports in recent weeks of people experiencing serious lung disease and in some cases dying due to vaping.
The motion also calls for the City Council to instruct the Department of Cannabis Regulation to report on the activities of laboratories in Los Angeles and elsewhere in California licensed to test cannabis and cannabis products. Krekorian noted that testing laboratories appear to focus on the purity of individual cannabis plants, not product safety of additives or delivery devices. The City Council is expected to vote on the motion soon.
