LOS ANGELES - The first ever Small Business Commission sponsored by the City of Los Angeles held its inaugural meeting today. The idea for the commission began four years with a motion from Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian, chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on Comprehensive Job Creation. The input you receive from small businesses here will be so important in creating the policy goals we wish to achieve, Krekorian told the commissioners.
Small businesses are among the most critical component of the Southern California economy. Los Angeles County has approximately 200,000 small businesses, which provide about half of the 3.5 million private sector jobs in the County.
The seven-member commission includes Charles Lew of the Lew Firm, who was Krekorians appointment.
