On January 15, Los Angeles celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with its annual Kingdom Day Parade, the “World's Largest and Longest Running Life Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King,” running west on Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. and down Crenshaw Blvd. to Leimert Park.
Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krekorian joined Councilmembers Heather Hutt, Eunisses Hernandez, Curren Price, Hugo Soto-Martinez and Tim McOsker, as well as Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly Mitchell for the length of the parade, greeting members of the community and joining for the completion of the program in Leimert Park. The theme of this year's program was “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, Going to the Promised Land,” a timely reminder of Dr. King's call to fulfill the promise of the “Beloved Community.”
