As the Council's longtime Budget Chair, Councilmember Paul Krekorian successfully fought to restore $95 million of funding for our parks, including $75 million for deferred maintenance of facilities like North Hollywood's Laurel Grove Park.
Last year, Council President Krekorian broke ground on a complete renovation of the park. This summer he cut the ribbon on the completed project: a completely landscaped park, with a fully equipped new playground, exercise machines, walking paths, benches, trees and a butterfly garden.
The new park is the product of a close collaboration between the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Laurel Grove Neighborhood Association. The park's neighbors, especially the children are already enjoying the spectacular result.
