For more than two years, the City Attorney and I have put the Federal Aviation Administration on notice that failure to comply with repeated requests for specific information about a southward shift in departures from Burbank Airport could prompt legal action. During that time the agency has answered our requests and those of the community with a series of evasive and hollow responses or non-responses.On Thursday, the City Attorney filed a lawsuit that asks the Court "to order the FAA to return to previous flight patterns, and divulge information about Burbank Airport airplane traffic which the public has long been entitled to see."
As I said at a press conference announcing the suit, "The stonewalling from the FAA cannot continue."
In the meantime, the Hollywood Burbank Airport Task Force will continue to advocate for immediate solutions to mitigate the intense noise resulting from this shift in flight patterns.
