LOS ANGELES - Councilmember Krekorian told the Metro Women's Small Business Summit held at Union Station this week that "it is an incredible time to do business in Los Angeles."Krekorian, who sits on the Metro Board of Directors, noted both the extremely favorable economic conditions and the many transportation projects either underway or being planned.
"This building is the center of a transportation revolution," said the councilmember, referring to Union Station. He cited the NextGen Bus and Measure M, passed by voters in 2016, as two prime examples.
James Butts, chair of the Metro Board, touted the agency's longstanding and groundbreaking efforts to work with small businesses. He told attendees that Metro will soon have 60 contracts out to bid, many of them open to small business.
The summit included sessions on small business success stories, building a strong financial foundation, and networking with sister agencies. A total of 176 people registered to attend.
