VAN NUYS - Due to climate change, the notion that there is a well-defined "fire season" in Southern California is quickly falling out of favor. In many areas, high risk conditions apply much of the year. The opening of a new Los Angeles City fire station to serve residents of Valley Glen and Van Nuys could not be better-timed. Located at 14615 Oxnard Street, the station replaces the former one at 14415 Sylvan St. The new facility has the size to house additional resources needed to meet present and future demands for fire protection services. It will also allow better access for trucks.
Please join Councilmember Krekorian, along with Los Angeles City Fire Chief Ralph M. Terrazas and LA City Councilmember Nury Martinez on Saturday, November 2, at the public opening house for the new station. The event kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 9 am followed by the official ceremony at 10.
