New Sidewalks and Infrastructure for Veterans Family Housing

Posted on 10/30/2024
Last year, Congressman Cárdenas, Councilmember Krekorian, and Homes4Families broke ground for veterans housing in North Hollywood. City-funded street repairs will offset costs of this project.

The L.A. Bureau of Street Services has begun work on new sidewalks and street infrastructure for Elmer Avenue (between Hatteras and Burbank) in North Hollywood.  Councilmember Krekorian identified $120,000 in excess bond funds from the old Community Redevelopment Agency (now closed) to make this project happen. This street renewal offsets some of the costs of the Homes4Families veterans housing project underway on Elmer Avenue.

Homes4Families enables previously unhoused veterans and their families to join in building houses that they themselves will own, giving those who served our country an opportunity to acquire equity and build generational wealth. Councilmember Krekorian also secured $480,000 for the building of the veterans' homes, to be built on City property in the Second District.
