VALLEY VILLAGE - Starting Saturday, the Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power will begin the next phase of construction on the City Trunk Line South Project to replace the city's aging water infrastructure.
On July 18, Whitsett Avenue between Magnolia Boulevard and Chandler Boulevard will be fully closed to cars from 8 a.m. to noon as LADWP re-stripes the street and prepares for a new work zone.
Following the re-striping, Whitsett Avenue will be closed from Magnolia Boulevard to Hesby Street from July 18 through December 2015 as construction continues. Only one southbound lane will remain open to through traffic, while northbound traffic will be detoured at Riverside Drive for northbound commuters. LADWP crews will provide local access. Phase 1 of the project is expected to be completed by September 2016. Currently, the City Trunk Line South Project is 70 percent complete.
Construction work is scheduled to take place Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with occasional work on Saturdays.
