NORTH HOLLYWOOD - In the summer of 2016, Metro launched its Bike Share program. Since then, the black vehicles with the yellow green Metro logo have become an indelible part of the landscape in many neighborhoods across Los Angeles. In August, the program came to North Hollywood, in Councilmember Krekorian's district. The results have been impressive.Through the initial month, the NoHo numbers compared to those of downtown during its opening month three years earlier. Figures from Metro show that 412 riders used the bikes at the North Hollywood subway and bus stations. The second highest total was 136 at the Chandler and Cahuenga station.
In September, the numbers continued to rise at most of the 18 stations within the North Hollywood network, though there was an across-the-board decline in October, the most recent month for which data are available.
Either way, the increasingly familiar bikes are now a ubiquitous presence in North Hollywood, vivid symbols of a healthier community.
