This week, Council President Paul Krekorian met with numerous officials in Paris, learning how to apply France’s successful experience with this year’s 2024 Olympic Games to our own L.A. Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028.

Now Paris is passing the Olympic torch to Los Angeles, where we will offer competition in more than 50 Olympic and Paralympic sports, 800-plus events, and over 3,000 hours of live play in more than 80 venues.

Los Angeles is the only city in the world to have twice hosted the Olympics and turned a profit both times -- once in in 1932 and again in 1984. We plan to do it again in 2028. Unlike other cities, we won't have to build new stadiums or arenas for the Olympics. With our wealth of world-class sports venues, we can already play host to the world.
