This week, Council President Paul Krekorian joined Mayor Karen Bass and fellow Councilmembers in Paris to study preparations the French capital is making for this year’s Olympic Games. The Mayor and Council are investigating best practices for transportation, security, financing, sustainability, and expanded opportunities for local businesses during and after the 2028 games in Los Angeles.
So far, the L.A delegation has met with business leaders, the U.S. Ambassador, the Mayor of Paris and other city officials, the Minister of Sport, and the Paris Homelessness Assistance Unit. Before leaving, they will meet with the mayors of nearby cities where Olympic events will be held and tour the Olympic and Paralympic village France has created for the 2024 games.
