Reaching Out with Hands for Hope

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Last week, Councilmember Krekorian joined North Hollywood's Hands for Hope to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Hands for Hope honored Krekorian with its Community Leader award at the gala.Founded in 2000 by Executive Director Lydia Floyd, Hands for Hope is dedicated to providing children of the community with a safe space for education and enrichment opportunities. Hands for Hope offers after school programs for at-risk and low-income youth and families that provide tutoring and homework help, promotes a healthy lifestyle, fosters interest and skills in all areas of the arts, and teaches an array of valuable life skills.
Additionally, Hands for Hope's after school programs offer teens the vital services to prepare students for their futures, such as test preparation, college counseling, driver safety, financial literacy, career exploration and tutoring.
"This organization not only provides the safe space and excellent programming for latchkey children of single parents in ourcommunity, but supports parents with resources and workshops that promote their well-being, and allows them to attend to their jobs and careers so they can be more productive employees," said Krekorian. "Hands for Hope does critical work to uplift ourcommunity and would not be possible without the help and care of its dedicated members."
