City Council President Emeritus Paul Krekorian has opened his seventh Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) project in the Second Council District.
The Goldfinch Apartments complex was built with funds from the Measure HHH Innovation Challenge. The modular construction employed by Daylight Community Development and Decro Corporation in building the Goldfinch Apartments, is expected to speed construction and reduce costs of future affordable and supportive housing projects.
Krekorian hosted a festive ribbon cutting for the 49-unit building on Vanowen Ave. Daylight Community development partner Greg Comanor, Decro Coporation CEO Ted Handel and supportive North Hollywood neighbors, including actor Tim Allen, joined in the celebration of this expansion of the district's supply of affordable housing. Several units have been reserved for residents of the District's Tiny Home cabin communities, returning from life on the street to stable housing.
"We've done so much in this city to provide temporary shelter for those who are unhoused," said Councilmember Krekorian. "Getting them off the streets, under a roof, and connecting them with the help that they need is critical, but giving them a permanent home like this so that we end their homelessness with permanent housing is more critical still."
