LOS ANGELES - LA Zoo Lights is back again this holiday season to bring nighttime magic to the Los Angeles Zoo from now through Jan. 3. With flurries of illuminated snowflakes, 3-D animated projections, glittering light tunnels, a musical light-and-water show, the Zoo has been transformed with thousands of LED lights. You can explore the nighttime wonderland with the whole family. A fun cast of animal characters are ready to shine include mischievous monkeys scampering through the grounds, a gigantic glowing snake coiled on a roof, a hillside with snowboarding iguanas, 3-D animated elephants wearing colorful holiday sweaters, an origami-type rhino lit from within and so much more.
Last year, more than 170,000 visitors took part in this new holiday tradition. LA Zoo Lights offers self-guided walking tour through select areas of the Zoo -- while most animal residents are asleep -- showcasing a unique visitor experience where you can see real reindeer, visit with Santa Claus, walk through the newly expanded amphibian and reptile lair, and much more.
LA Zoo Lights is open every night, except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, through Jan. 3. For more information about hours and tickets, visit www.lazoolights.org.
