Every month, more unhoused people move from the street to interim shelter to permanent housing.  Here are a few examples of success stories from the past month.

A domestic violence survivor, Kymala became homeless in 2022. Council District 2 gave her shelter in the Alexandria Tiny Homes, where Kymala found supportive friendships.  Her Hope the Mission case case manager Dariana connected her with mental health support and assisted her with employment applications. Kymala is now working and with Dariana’s assistance has moved into a home of her own.

Linda lived in her car with her husband and dogs for nine months after becoming homeless. Victory Outreach connected her with Hope the Mission and placed her at Alexandria.  Case Manager Martha and the People Concern helped move her from the Tiny Home to Permanent Supportive Housing.

Kenneth was homeless for exactly two years when Victory Outreach connected him with Hope the Mission and within a day he moved into a Tiny Home.  His Case Manager, Emmanuel, and Tiny Home Alexandria Program Manager Kim worked with him to find housing.  Kenneth has moved into his new home and is reconnecting with his family.

With patience and persistence, Case Managers, Program Managers and Council District staff are helping the unhoused rebuild their lives.
