Lucille R., age 56, was homeless for 15 years and suffered from clinical depression that almost made it impossible for her to escape from life on the streets. A stay in the Alexandria Tiny Homes changed her life for the better.
With the assistance of her case manager Martha from Hope the Mission (formerly Hope of the Valley), she was referred to a mental health team. Martha assisted her with making her appointments and refreshing day-to-day living skills. Lucille is now steadily employed and has moved from the Tiny Homes to a home of her own. Case Managers work every day to help unhoused persons return to stable housing. We protect the privacy of all interim shelter clients, but Lucille agreed that we share her story to prove that help is available, and there is hope for all.
