Summer is in full swing, so make the most of the long, hot days and explore all the great things happening in our community. Whether you enjoy picnics, outdoor movie screenings, concerts or exploring the arts, you don't have to look very far to find a fun activity for the whole family.
In this special edition of Our Valley News, I'm sharing a list of great events happening in our community that will make your summer more complete. So, before school starts and this season comes to and end, I encourage you to explore your neighborhood and enjoy an exciting day or night out.

1. NoHo Summer Nights

NoHo Summer Nights is North Hollywood's new concert and film series that brings you the best in music and movies. Every Saturday night, the 10-week series will bring outdoor shows to North Hollywood Park all summer long.

2. Summer Movies in the Park

Calling all movie buffs! Watch your favorite films under the stars, a perfect way to spend a summer night. Grab a blanket, pack some snacks and bring the whole family to one of the many free movies showing in the East Valley, in collaboration with the office of Councilmember Krekorian and our community partners. 3. Experience NoHo Plaza

Experience NoHo Plaza is back! For the second year, NoHo Plaza is hosting an entertainment series with free weekly performances, comedy shows, plays and much more.

Produced by the NoHo Business Improvement District and the Office of Councilmember Paul Krekorian, in collaboration with www.nohoartsdistrict.com, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the free summer series features local artists, musicians and talent to bring live entertainment, art, dance and film every Thursday this summer at NoHo Plaza.

4. National Night Out in Valley Village

National Night Out is an annual celebration for neighborhoods across Los Angeles and the nation to take a stand against crime. The yearly tradition spotlights the partnership of local groups, elected officials and law enforcement officers that keep our neighborhoods safe. Last year, more than 38 million people from 15,000 communities across the United States participated in the event. Show your support for taking action against crime and building community-police partnerships by participating in this year's event. The event is free and will include fun activities and entertainment for the whole family.

5. LACMA in North Hollywood

This August, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will be in the NoHo Arts District on Saturday nights! Stop by NoHo Plaza and tap into your creative muse for art projects connected with LACMA's collection and exhibitions and enjoy a live DJ set.

Aug. 5: Make an Accordion Book, 6-9 pm
Make an accordion book with pop-ups that move and groove! Add a custom cover using cool and interesting collage materials. Inspired by kinetic sculpture from LACMA's collection.

Aug. 12: Make Box Art, 6-9 pm
Transform a box into a textured diorama or assemblage work of art! Add found objects, recycled fabrics, papers, and more. Inspired by artists who create box works from LACMA's collection.

Aug. 19: Make a Scroll, 6-9 pm
Design a book that can be rolled up! Using paper and wooden dowels, assemble a scroll then add decorative and narrative materials. Inspired by LACMA's collection of Japanese hanging scrolls.

Aug. 26: Make a Flower-Fold Book, 6-9 pm
Also called an exploding book due to its jutting geometric structure, the flower-fold book opens into a dynamic and magical art piece. Inspired by artists who embrace geometry from LACMA's collection.
