Council President Krekorian was the keynote speaker at the BizFed Institute's Transportation Forum, held in Downtown L.A.'s historic Union Station. As a director of the Metro and Metrolink systems, his advocacy for sustainable public transportation has most recently borne fruit in the completion of the Downtown Regional Connector, increased federal funding for the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail, and continued progress on the Airport Metro Connector.
In his address to the BizFed forum, Krekorian emphasized the links between transportation, housing, tourism, and overall economic vitality. He called on the assembled business leaders to participate in the creation of new systems that support continued growth and prosperity. He noted the challenge posed by the upcoming World Cup, Super Bowl, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, all coming to Los Angeles in the next four years. "This moment demands your continued advocacy," Krekorian said.
