Join the free festivities downtown with music, food and a fireworks display launched into the DTLA skyline! The event is open to all ages. Doors open at 2 pm and fireworks start at approximately 9 pm. Go Metro and take the Red/Purple lines to Civic Center/Grand Park Station and use the 1st Street exit or Gold Line's Little Tokyo/Arts District Station followed by a short walk towards The Music Center.
PET SAFETY TIPS
Take extra precautions to keep children and pets safe. Many household pets become terrified by fireworks, so it's best to leave your furry friends at home when attending a fireworks event.
The loud sounds of July 4th fireworks frighten dogs and cats. If they get out of the house or yard, they run in fear. To keep your pets safe, bring them inside; be sure all the gates are locked and secure to avoid pets escaping; and make sure animals are wearing ID tags and their microchip information is up to date.
Each year, LA shelters take in thousands of lost animals between July 2 and July 6, which fills shelters beyond capacity as these pets wait to reunite with their families. This means that available shelter space can be the difference between life and death for our city's shelter guests who have been in the shelter past the required hold period. HAVE FUN, STAY SAFE In the excitement and anticipation of the holiday weekend, the LA Fire and Police departments want to remind Angelenos that fireworks are not only illegal to possess and transport in LA, but they also can cause painful and debilitating injury. According to the National Fire Protection Association, fireworks cause an average of 18,500 reported fires per year.
My office has been working closely with the LAPD to curb illegal fireworks in our neighborhoods. If you experience any fireworks related issues when there is no fire or injury, contact the LAPD non-emergency line at 1-877-275-5273. In case of a fire or injury, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
