NORTH HOLLYWOOD - This week, Councilmember Krekorian was joined by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks General Manager Mike Shull and members of the LAPD on a tour of the Whitsett Fields Park/Valley Plaza Recreation Center, located at the intersection of Whitsett and Vanowen in North Hollywood. The once-dusty, rocky fields are in the process of being transformed into one of the premier soccer complexes in Los Angeles. One of the councilmember's top priorities, the 15-acre site currently features four soccer fields, with an additional three under construction. When completed, later this year, all seven soccer fields will have synthetic turf and LED lighting. The current construction work features a community room, picnic area, parking, security lighting, security camera, and landscape. The project also includes planting 65 trees at the site.According to Recreation and Parks, the complex will serve a population of more than 18,900 within a half-mile radius.State-of-the-art soccer fields and plenty of space for family gatherings in the midst of an urban environment: Ideal for a growing community, today and into the future.
