Over the weekend, Council President Paul Krekorian brought the third annual Winter Wonderland community festival to the Whitsett Sports Field in North Hollywood. Thousands of area children lined up to meet Santa, visit the petting zoo, and take home some of the 10,000 toys previously collected by the Second Council District, LAPD, and Toys For Tots. Thirty tons of snow were packed together to form a hill for sledding, a rare treat in the San Fernando Valley. The community was treated to a stirring performance by Ballet Folklorico Joyas del Valle and a return visit from the Bell Choir of the ARC (Activities Recreation and Care for Individuals With Developmental Disabilities) center. This year's celebration lasted well into the evening, when Christmas lights lit up the Whitsett Sports Complex, leaving area families with memories to last throughout the year.
North Hollywood Winter Wonderland is coordinated in partnership with the North Hollywood West Neighborhood Council, the Department of Recreation and Parks, the Los Angeles Police Department and the East Valley Police Activity League Supporters (PALS).
